Welcome Margaret Farley to KABC!

“It has been an honor and a privilege to advocate alongside older Kansans and those who care about aging adults to improve long-term care in our State for the past 13 years.”  Mitzi McFatrich, KABC’s executive director since 2007 is stepping out of that role the end of December.

KABC is welcoming Margaret Farley, JD, BSN and former registered nurse, as KABC’s executive director as of January 2021.  Margaret’s professional career, first as a registered nurse and then as an elder law attorney, is dedicated to preventing abuse and neglect of elders and assuring that elders receive the good care they need. Margaret was “inspired by KABC’s founders and the work they did and which KABC has continued to do for 45 years to improve long-term care in nursing and assisted facilities and for in-home care in Kansas.” Margaret brings exceptional background in advocating for good quality long-term care having been an active member of KABC since 1980 and serving as KABC’s director in the mid 1990s. She has served as President on the Board of KABC and NCCNHR (now the Consumer Voice), a national long-term care consumer advocacy organization. Margaret has published numerous legal articles, contributed to many consumer guides, and made countless professional presentations on issues related to long-term care. Margaret looks forward to taking up her new role and to the strides we will make together for significant improvements in elder care.
