Stand By Me 2021

October 13 - October 25

What is Stand By Me?

Stand By Me is KABC’s annual charity event to raise the funds needed to improve elder care. Since 2008 Stand By Me has grown to over 100 attendees annually who want to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults who contributed as doctors, soldiers, teachers, parents and friends who shaped our world as we know it today. Join KABC virtually this October to stand by older adults, honor their resilience in the face of the pandemic, and advocate for a future of better care that we know is possible.

Why Sponsor?

COVID-19 has marked each of our lives, and none more so than the older adults we serve. Inspired by the tenacity and resilience of the older adults benefiting from your support, we are excited to present an equally unique opportunity to connect with our community of advocates and make a positive change in elder care. Out of respect for your health and the well being of those we advocate for, Stand By Me 2021 will be a completely virtual event.

This new event format allows sponsors to connect with our community in more ways than ever before, and interact with a larger audience than our past in-person events. Stand By Me participation grew by 60% in 2020 with the introduction of virtual activities, and the event website had visitors from over 100 cities spanning across Kansas and Missouri.

We are moved by your generosity, and thrilled to partner with you to improve elder care. Stand By Me 2021 will be a standout, and with your generosity, will empower older adults and their caregivers.

Join KABC’s First Ever Photo Contest!

Introducing KABC’s fun new way to participate in the virtual event; the Then & Now Charity Challenge!

Throughout the pandemic we witnessed the strength and creativity of older adults. From 90 year olds sewing masks for nurses, to care facility residents banding together for support during lockdown – older adults have shown us that although we change on the outside, we are always the same strong individuals on the inside.

Inspired by the popular online #thenandnowchallenge, the Then & Now Charity Challenge is a photo contest to honor older adults’ resilience in the face of the pandemic and celebrate their life-long strength.

Contestants can share their own growth by recreating an old photo of themselves and pairing them side-by-side for a “then and now” comparison. (If you don’t feel comfortable posting pictures of yourself, consider featuring a loved one or pet – with consent, of course!) The best photo recreation will be determined by voters, who submit as many votes as they like by donating $1 per vote. The contestant with the most votes on October 25th wins a $50 gift card of their choice.

KABC created a special Contestant Toolkit to help you post your Then and Now photos, and get votes!
