In 2015, Kansas Advocates for Better Care created a video using stories from three people who are close to the organization.
John Naramore has been a long-time friend of KABC. He has counted on the information KABC can provide as he helped several family members and friends with their long-term care decisions.
Nancy Cottril learned of KABC several years ago when her mother had been injured in a nursing facility. She met board member/Lawrence attorney Molly Wood, who told her about KABC. Nancy served on our board of directors.
Erica Stevanovic interned with KABC during her time a the University of Kansas. Her Grandmother was in a nursing facility, and was given too many anti-psychotic medications. Erica helped create our “Positive Approaches” booklet.
This year, we added another piece to the video: Claire Shanovich is currently a KU Student and intern at KABC for the 2017 fall and 2018 spring semesters. Claire has experience as an in-home caregiver, and understands the need for better training for anyone providing hands-on care.
